Sex Bias In LA Funding …

PARITY's intention  in posting this data on our website is to create an opportunity for public  debate on this particular  funding issue. The 27 charts featured  in this Paper, covering a range of local authorities, show a disparity in discretionary funding between expenditure on males and females which is generally larger and consistently in favour of females. This is a  different perspective from that usually presented in the media, where females tend to be seen as disadvantaged. There may be aview that males are poorly funded because men generally do not apply for discretionary funding. In this case, there may be an obligation on local authorities to invite males to apply. It may be relevant also to examine  the  gender composition of committees awarding funding. Needless to say,  comments from local authorities and any other interested parties would  be of interest and potentially valuable to PARITY. Please contact us at:  [email protected].
